TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - Topeka police said a man died Monday after being run over by a vehicle, which then left the scene.

The driver was later located and was being questioned by police, Lt. Manny Munoz said.

Witnesses called authorities to report hearing an argument and then seeing a vehicle run over a person near the Soldier Trail in north Topeka, Munoz said. The victim was taken to a Topeka hospital, where he died, WIBW reported.

The victim’s identity was not released pending notification of relatives.

Munoz said officers found the vehicle a short time later and took the driver in for questioning.

The people involved were not on the trail itself but in a field between the trail and nearby streets and alleys, he said.

It is not known what the people involved were arguing about, Munoz said.
