NEW YORK (AP) - Two teenagers were killed and a third was wounded in a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn, police said.

The three youths were shot near a basketball court in the Cypress Hills neighborhood shortly after 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Video footage posted by Chief of Detectives Rodney Harrison on Twitter shows someone firing out of the sunroof of a sport-utility vehicle.

Sixteen-year-old Kleimer Mendez was shot in the head and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Antonio Villa, 18, also was shot in the head and was taken to a hospital, where he later died. A 17-year-old was shot in the leg and was in stable condition, police said.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio tweeted after the first victim died Sunday, “This is heartbreaking. His life was just beginning.” De Blasio added, “Sending my thoughts and prayers to the families of these boys. No parent should ever have to bury a child.”

Police have made no arrests.
