ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - Maryland confirmed three more cases of coronavirus in the state for a total of nine so far, the officials said Tuesday.

A husband and wife in their 50s in Prince George’s County are in good condition, Hogan said before an emergency Cabinet meeting. Later in the day, the state announced a woman in her 60s from Montgomery County had the virus. She also was in good condition, the state said.

The governor says the state health department is recommending nursing homes restrict access to visitors and that all facility staff should be restricted from international travel.

Meanwhile, the chancellor of the University System of Maryland has urged each university to prepare for students to remain off campus for at least two weeks after the end of spring break, which begins Saturday and ends March 22 at the University of Maryland.

Universities should be prepared to deliver instruction remotely, Chancellor Jay Perman said.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia.

The vast majority of people recover from the new virus. According to the World Health Organization, people with mild illness recover in about two weeks, while those with more severe illness may take three to six weeks to recover. In mainland China, where the virus first exploded, more than 80,000 people have been diagnosed and more than 58,000 have so far recovered.”
