A man has been arrested on gun and drug-related charges following the shooting death of a man in Cambridge, Vermont, authorities said.

Taylor “Tee” Ruffin Herrington, 34, of Philadelphia, was arrested Thursday in that city by the FBI on a warrant issued from Vermont, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Vermont said. Herrington appeared in court in Philadelphia and was detained pending his transfer to Vermont. A message was left Friday for his lawyer seeking comment.

An autopsy determined that Michael Haines, 39, died of a gunshot wound to the abdomen earlier this month at his home.

Court documents said Herring and Haines had spent time together and that police got a call from Haines on March 3 saying Herrington was trying to enter his house. Haines later died. Investigators searched Haines’ residence and found a large amount of heroin in a bag that was hidden, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

A grand jury indicted Herrington on charges of carrying and using a firearm during and in relation to a drug-trafficking crime, and conspiracy to distribute heroin.
