Nickelodeon told its millions of followers Tuesday that it was all-in for “Trans Day of Visibility.”

The home of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” “TMNT” and a host of other children’s shows posted a baby-blue, pink, and white flag on its Twitter account while touting support for transgender persons around the world.

“Today is International #TransDayOfVisibility,” the account tweeted for 3.8 million followers. “We’re celebrating transgender people around the world and the courage it takes to live their truth #TDOV.”

Reactions to the post ran the gamut:

  • “Get woke, go broke.”
  • “We won’t forget who poisoned the minds of the Youth.”
  • “There is no such thing as “their truth.”  Truth isn’t relative.”
  • “I’m always shocked [at] how many people don’t support trans right [sic] and actually think it’s a mental illness.”
  • “Children shouldn’t be shielded from LGBTQ+ stuff.”
  • “I have some transgender friends! They’re going to love this.”


The children’s network, created in 1977, regularly reaches over 90 million households.

Parent company ViacomCBS operating out of New York City boasts on its website that Nickelodeon has been the “#1-rated basic cable network for 20 consecutive years.”
