POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) - Two teenagers from California have pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of an older woman in Idaho last year, prosecutors said.
Maryville, California residents Dustin Garrett Alfaro, 19, and Isaac Angel Rodriguez-Romero, 18, pleaded guilty on Friday in the death of 87-year-old Arlyne Koehler inside her home in Pocatello in March 2019, The Idaho State Journal reported.
Koehler’s family members found her dead March 19, a day after Alfaro and Rodriguez-Romero allegedly broke into her home as part of a burglary, police said.
Alfaro and Rodriguez-Romero were arrested a week later in California, authorities said. The two teens pleaded guilty as part of a deal that dropped several other charges, including conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and weapon enhancement charges.
Sentencing hearings are scheduled in January.
Alfaro faces at least 22 years and up to life in prison, while Rodriguez-Romero faces at least 27 years and up to life in prison.
