Police in the Phoenix suburb of Mesa said Monday they arrested a man in a drive-by shooting that killed a 1-year-old boy and wounded six other people outside a food truck.

Officers say Larry T. Miller, 29, faces charges including first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, endangerment and aggravated assault.

It was not immediately known if Miller had an attorney who could comment on the case pending against him.

The 1-year-old died Oct. 18, two days after a gunman in an SUV stopped in the street and shot into a nighttime crowd of people eating outside the food truck.

Three adults, a 16-year-old and children ages 6 and 9 were also wounded. They were not all from the same family.

The police department reported earlier that a man was seen assaulting a woman at the same location earlier that Friday night and one of the food vendors and other bystanders intervened.

Police confirmed Monday that the suspect was believed to have been involved in that earlier altercation.
