MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) - A corrections officer in northeastern Kansas has been arrested and placed on leave after being accused of domestic battery, police there said.

Officer Ace Thompson, with the Riley County Police Department, was arrested Wednesday evening, television station KSNT reported. The arrest came after a 28-year-old woman reported on Monday that Thompson assaulted her, police said.

Thompson, 33, of Manhattan, was booked into the jail on suspicion of domestic battery and criminal restraint, and he was later released on $1,500 bond, Riley County police said. The department said Thompson had been placed on administrative leave.

A working telephone number for Thompson could not be found Thursday morning.
