Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R. Biden introduced himself as Kamala Harris‘ running mate at an Atlanta rally Tuesday, an apparent joke mocking the Trump campaign’s suggestion the liberal senator will be the one at the helm of a Biden administration.

“My name’s Joe Biden. I’m Jill Biden’s husband and I’m Kamala’s running mate,” Mr. Biden said, laughing. “You all think I’m kidding, don’t you?”

The Trump campaign seized on the comment, also sharing some past clips where Mr. Biden and Ms. Harris confused their roles.

In September, Mr. Biden referred to his potential administration as the “Harris-Biden administration.”

Earlier this month, Ms. Harris referred to “a Harris administration with Joe Biden.”

“Joe Biden confirms what we all knew,” White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany tweeted Tuesday night. “‘KAMALA’ sign is prominently displayed behind him.”
