SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) - Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials say a suspect has been arrested at a hotel near Sedona for allegedly beating and stabbing a woman inside a room.

They said deputies received a report early Saturday morning that a man had been hitting a woman inside a room at a resort in Oak Creek Village just south of Sedona.

When deputies arrived, they said the victim was on the ground outside the hotel with Andre Scroggins was on top of her and both were covered with blood.

Authorities said the woman had multiple cuts and stab wounds on her head, left shoulder and chest and was taken to a Flagstaff hospital for treatment.

Sheriff’s officials said Scroggins is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault, endangerment, disorderly conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal damage.

It was unclear Sunday if he had a lawyer who can speak on his behalf.
