CNN’s Don Lemon declared Monday night that “we’re going to have to blow up the entire system” if Democrats win in November.

In the wake of the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the prime-time host argued in favor of Democrats packing the Supreme Court and abolishing the Electoral College if they take back the White House and Senate, causing some pushback from his colleague Chris Cuomo, who pointed out the constitutional hurdles.

“We’re going to have to blow up the entire system,” Mr. Lemon said. “And you know what we’re going to have to do? … You’re going to have to get rid of the Electoral College, because the minority in this country decides who the judges are and they decide who the president is. Is that fair?”

“You need a constitutional amendment to do that,” Mr. Cuomo interjected.

Mr. Lemon continued, “And if [Democratic presidential nominee Joseph R.] Biden wins, Democrats can stack the courts and they can do that amendment and they can get it passed.”

Mr. Cuomo replied: “Well, you need two-thirds vote in the Congress and three-quarters of the state legislatures.”

“They may be able to do that,” Mr. Lemon responded.
