OPINION:
Falling in the polls, Democrats have finally acknowledged rioting, murder and mayhem in the republic, but are blaming President Trump. The left is no longer merely content with rewriting history, they now want to revise the present.
Democrats and their media handlers on the left have decided that it is more important to stick to their 4-year-old narrative of “orange man bad,” then to tell the truth.
That is why a radicalized media will run a chyron on the bottom of the screen that proclaims that protesters are peaceful while its reporter is standing in front of a burning building. Or, that on a different day, in a different town, a different reporter from the same anti-American network, calls criminals “peaceful protesters” while he stands in front of a different burning building.
Their persistent question is, “Who are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?”
The current revision of the present is necessary because no one believes the Democrats anymore. Their Potemkin Village is no longer believable. They simply can no longer say that Communist revolutionaries, who are chanting “death to America” in the streets, are social justice protesters enjoying their First Amendment rights.
The days when a congresswoman from Washington State can claim that anarchists taking control of a portion of Seattle have created a community garden are gone.
As are the times when House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler can claim that Antifa is merely a “myth.”
The community garden explanation of anarchy failed with the presence of armed guards checking identification of all who wanted to enter or leave the area, and when they began demanding protection money. It evaporated when murders took place in the “community garden.”
And the mythological creatures of Antifa and Black Lives Matter apparently have come to life as domestic terrorists who pillage and murder and seek to destroy America.
No, Democrats can no longer credibly assert that three months of anarchy in Portland, Oregon, by a mob that urges the killing of police and destruction of American institutions is merely advocacy for social justice.
It is hard to disguise a communist revolution.
As Americans become woke to the reality of the violence of the mob and the motivations of the criminals who are fomenting the insurrection, the left realized that their narrative was failing, and they needed a new message. They returned to their favorite of the Trump era; that it is all Donald Trump’s fault.
It’s similar to the Hillary Clinton lie that an Internet video caused the murderous attack on the U.S. Embassy in Benghazi.
It is the Nazi method of Joseph Goebbels: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”
The first big lie was that there is no violent rioting. That failed because reporters standing in front of a burning building telling you that everything is peaceful is a big fat whopper. In fact, in that case the lie is too big to be believed.
So, now leftist agitators in the media, recognizing that the first lie failed, claim that the president is somehow, chimerically, the cause of the anti-American revolution. The fact that Democratic mayors and governors are appeasing the mobocrats, allowing and even encouraging anarchy, and preventing police enforcement of our laws, is the impetus for the ongoing riots.
Democrats own the unrest. No matter how stridently they claim otherwise.
Goebbels again: “… the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the state.” Applying Goebbels’ statement, we can see that the truth is actually the greatest enemy of the authoritarians of the left and the Democrats.
And thus, it is not enough for Democrats to revise history, they must revise the present as well. God help us if the American people accept their latest big lie.
