OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The number of people in Oklahoma with active cases of COVID-19 continues to sink, state health officials reported Saturday.

The Oklahoma State Department of Health reported 12,929 active cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus Saturday, 407 fewer than on Friday, while 779 new coronavirus cases pushed the state’s pandemic total to 423,802.

The state’s 59 new COVID-19 deaths raised the state’s pandemic death toll to almost 4,379, the health department reported.

Meanwhile, Johns Hopkins University researchers said the state’s average number of daily new cases over the past two weeks has fallen to 773.3, a 48.8% decrease.

This story has been corrected to state that 12,929 was the number of active cases of COVID-19 in Oklahoma Saturday, not the number of patients hospitalized with the disease caused by the coronavirus.
