BALTIMORE (AP) - A Baltimore Police officer trainee has been fired after being arrested on assault and other charges, police said.
The Baltimore Sun reports that the Baltimore State’s Attorney’s Office confirmed Sunday that Jordan Ali, 22, a trainee hired in March of 2020, was arrested and charged with three counts of second-degree assault, three counts of harassment and one count of reckless endangerment.
No attorney was listed in court records. Ali has been released after posting bail, court records show.
The Baltimore Police Department did not release any more details on the nature of the incident on Saturday. The department said Ali was terminated following an internal investigation.
“These type of allegations whether on or off-duty, by any member of our department will not be tolerated,” said Commissioner Michael Harrison in the statement.
“Behavior like this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated,” said Mayor Brandon Scott.
“Incidents like this cast a shadow on the many hardworking members of the Baltimore Police Department,” Scott said.
