WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - Authorities in Delaware are investigating a police shooting that left one person dead.
New Castle County police said officers were investigating a suspicious vehicle in the area of Rosemont Ave and East 24th Street in Wilmington shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
As the officers approached, the vehicle took off and fled down a dead-end road, police said. The vehicle then made a U-turn and drove at high speed directly at the officers, according to police.
The fired their weapons, striking the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
