This satellite image provided by NOAA shows Hurricane Alex as it comes ashore Wednesday on a relatively unpopulated stretch of coast in Mexico's northern Tamaulipas state, about 110 miles south of Brownsville, Texas. Alex is moving west near 10 mph. Maximum sustained winds are near 100 mph with higher gusts. Steady weakening is expected as the hurricane moves over land according to forecasters.
