Rep. Darrell Issa, California Democrat, said a White House bid to force prospective federal contractors to disclose their political donations smacks of "Chicago hardball politics" during a grilling Thursday of White House procurement official Daniel I. Gordon.
The invitation to rapper Common to appear at an "evening of poetry" at the White House was criticized by the head of New Jersey's state trooper union because of the artist's "Song for Assata" about the killing of a trooper in the 1970s.
