The type of people who pull off the George Washington Parkway to admire the Potomac River views will appreciate the spectacular Potomac Cliffs Condominiums.

If the word “condominium” conjures an image of the traditional two-bedroom, two-bath space, picture this instead: an 8,850-square-foot condominium with breathtaking Potomac River views from the top of a cliff, walls of windows, five bedrooms, seven full baths, a guest house, multiple decks and a heated swimming pool.

Now on the market for $3.75 million, the home at 181 Chain Bridge Road, close to the Chain Bridge in Arlington, was renovated in 2000 with exquisite finishes that complement the river views.

Inside the iron gates of the property, a restful front patio welcomes guests even before they enter the home through the cherry-wood double doors, which open next to the dramatic turret room.

Other outdoor entertaining space includes a secluded rear patio, multiple decks and balconies, and the heated swimming pool.

Although the location overlooking the Potomac River attracts plenty of admirers, this home also offers the advantage of a location within minutes of McLean, Arlington and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on the Virginia side of the river, and Georgetown, the Kennedy Center and downtown Washington on the D.C. side of the river.

Potomac River views greet guests as soon as they are inside the foyer, which has two closets; entrances to the kitchen, dining room and living room; and a private elevator.

A step-down leads into the two-story living room, which has a wall of windows framing the river view. The living room has a fireplace, hardwood flooring, an exposed brick wall, built-in window seating, an entrance to the rear patio and a step-down into the lower-level family room.

The sophisticated dining room overlooks the two-story living room and includes hardwood flooring, a wall of built-in cherry cabinets with glass doors, a built-in cherry cabinet with a marble top, surround sound and recessed lighting.

The kitchen includes an adjacent breakfast area and has been renovated with cherry cabinets; granite counters; an eight-burner Vulcan range and double oven; a Sub-Zerorefrigerator, freezer and wine refrigerator; slate flooring; recessed lighting; and French doors to the front patio. A breezeway links the kitchen with the garage and guesthouse.

The lower level of the home features a family room with hardwood flooring, built-in cabinetry, a wet bar, two refrigerators, a flat-screen television, stereo equipment and a walk-in wine cellar tucked under the stairs. This level has a bedroom and full bath in addition to the half-bath, laundry room and storage rooms.

The second-level master suite has his-and-hers custom closets with built-ins, his-and-hers baths with marble flooring, marble counters, a steam shower, a tub and extra closets. The master suite includes such amenities as a fireplace with built-ins on either side, a home projector with a drop-down screen, built-in speakers and a wall of windows with three sets of French doors leading to a two-story deck overlooking the Potomac.

Both of the other bedrooms on this level include French doors to a balcony and a private full bath. One bedroom has custom built-in cabinets for use as an office, while the second has a two-story ceiling and a spiral staircase to a loft area.

The third level, the entertainment area, comes complete with a separate sauna room; a full bath with a steam shower; a hair-salon room, which was formerly a kitchen; a full kitchen; an elevator and a game room.

The game room is the perfect space for a large party, with 29 by 14 feet, built-in speakers, a huge skylight, built-in televisions, a wall of mirrors and three sets of double doors leading to a deck with a fireplace and a spectacular view of the Potomac.

Whether savoring the view in solitude or with an entire crowd of friends and family, the home at 181 Chain Bridge Road can accommodate any buyer’s wishes.
