The high of singing in ‘School Musical’

My name is Julia Colucci. I’m 9 years old and will be starting fourth grade at Belmont Station Elementary School in Ashburn. My family and I went to see “High School Musical” at Thomas Jefferson Community Theatre last Saturday.

The production is about two high school students, Troy and Gabriella, who dream of singing. Their friends try to stop them because they really want Troy to help “the jocks” win the basketball championship and Gabriella to help the “brainiacs” win the science decathlon.

In the end, Troy and Gabriella learned that if you believe in your dreams and don’t listen to others, you can really soar.

All the actors gave a good performance, but I especially enjoyed the actors who played the parts of Troy, Gabriella, Taylor, Sharpay, Chad and Ms. Darbus. I didn’t like Ryan Evans’ English accent. I thought they did a nice job on the sets.

The music was really good. My favorite songs were “Status Quo,” “Bop to the Top” and “Get’cha Head in the Game.” There were a few songs that were not in the original movie, and I liked them too. I was surprised when the cast walked into the audience and sang the last song in the aisles. That was fun. My favorite part of the show was the cafeteria scene, when Zeke accidentally got cake on Sharpay.

After the show, it was cool that the actors autographed our programs. I think the show is good for all ages, but girls around my age will really like it. I definitely would recommend this production to my friends. I give the show four stars.
