SEEN AND HEARD AT SHEA STADIUM
NEW YORK — Ah, is there any ballpark in the majors you would rather spend 14 hours at than Shea Stadium? Well, maybe only 29 others.
Yesterday’s day-night doubleheader made for a miserable experience for players, team support staff … and yes, media members who were stuck in the ramshackle, stifling press box all day with no refuge.
The players didn’t have it much better. When the Nationals arrived at 10 a.m., they learned the visiting clubhouse air conditioner was broken. Seriously, they can’t blow this place up soon enough.
QUOTABLE
“I don’t know. I guess just hang out. I’ve never really had this much time between two games. You just kind of relax, and then start all over.”
— Ryan Zimmerman on what he planned to do in the four hours between yesterday’s doubleheader games
