SEEN AND HEARD AT COORS FIELD

The Rockies held “80s Night” at the ballpark yesterday, a nifty little promotion that would have made sense … if only this franchise actually existed pre-1993!

Generally, teams hold these “retro” nights as a way to honor some memorable teams and moments in franchise history and mark the occasion by wearing throwback jerseys. Unfortunately, the Rockies don’t have any of that.

So basically, last night was simply an excuse for them to play such time-honored hits as Styx’s “Mr. Roboto” and Oingo Boingo’s “Weird Science”.

OVERHEARD

“Obviously a guy with his tools, he’s better suited to be up there at the top of the order. I hope he can carry on with this and have a long, productive career.”

— Manny Acta on Nook Logan, who was back atop the lineup last night after hitting .340 since June 23
