Just a theory
“The wife of Maryland’s governor, addressing a conference on domestic abuse, declared that she would shoot Britney Spears if she had a gun. Mothers in the audience applauded. I can’t say I blame them. …
“An awful suspicion forms in my mind. The empty lewdness of the stage act; the bottomless nothingness in Britney’s eyes and words; all that emptiness and nothingness and purposelessness; the trashing of our culture’s most-hallowed ceremony … for what? Can it be …? Yes! I only hope I can get the word out before they track me down.
“Listen: Britney Spears is an instrument of Satan. The poor girl has sold her soul, or had it stolen from her. That travesty of a marriage was not for nothing — it was a union in evil! Its issue will be the Antichrist, and the world will be his dominion. These are the Last Times. You have been warned.”

Diversity Inc.
“By the early ’80s, [the Ford Foundations] activist staff … saw that the university would be … the battleground for an apocalyptic effort to force multiculturalism into the intellectual life of this country.
“And this became one of the Foundation’s chief ends. …
“To promote its 1990 ’Race Relations and Cultural Diversity Initiative,’ Ford hired a host of PC paladins: H. Keith Brodie, president of Duke [University]; F. Sheldon Hackney, president of the University of Pennsylvania: Donald Kennedy, then-president of Stanford [University]; Donna Shalala, chancellor of the University of Wisconsin/Madison; Donald Stewart, president of the College Board; Frances D. Fergusson, president of Vassar (and a member of Ford’s board of directors); Bernard W. Harleston, president of the City College of New York; Blandina Cardenas Ramirez, the American Council on Education’s director of minority concerns; and Harold T. Shapiro, president of Princeton [University]. …
“According to Edgar Beckham, the 59-year-old officer in charge of Ford’s Education and Culture Program, this group ’worked with the president of the foundation to develop the conceptual framework’ of the ’diversity’ program.”

Degraded society
“Even his most passionate supporters cannot deny that [Michael] Jackson is an eccentric, even a weird, character; [he] is, indeed, Wacko Jacko. Years of gruesome plastic surgery have transformed the beaming black child into a strange, pale-faced, wide-eyed figure, looking like a cross between an anorexic teenage girl and an extra in a Hammer Horror film. Jackson has stated that he changed his appearance because he wanted to avoid any resemblance to his cruel father. Yet his transformation into an androgynous white man surely reflects a deeper, more perverse form of sexual and racial self-loathing. Reclusive, neurotic and unbalanced, he seems unable to cope with the realities of adult life. …
“Yet eccentricity does not necessarily imply guilt. Personally, I have the gravest doubts about the charges made against Jackson. …
“Jackson may turn out to be an abuser. But the refusal to believe in the possibility of his innocence shows how morally degraded our society has become.”
—Leo McKinstry, writing on “In defense of Wacko Jacko,” Jan. 3 in the (U.K.) Spectator
