Rockville to host annual car show
The City of Rockville’s annual antique and classic show will be held tomorrow at Civic Center Park.
More than 400 automobiles will be on display and at least 20 vendors will on hand for a flea market. Auto displays this year will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Rolls-Royce and the 40th anniversary of the Ford Mustang.
The Olney Jazz Troupe will perform from noon to 2 p.m.
The field opens to spectators at 11 a.m. Judging will be people’s choice, with an awards presentation at 2:45 p.m.

South County show announces new date
The South County Car Show has been rescheduled to Oct. 23 at Herrington Harbour North Marina, Tracy’s Landing in Deale, Md.
The Sept. 18 date was canceled because of inclement weather.
More than 300 pre-1973 antique and custom cars, street rods and trucks will be on display during the show from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The new rain date is Oct. 24.
The show will include a disc jockey, food and drink, a raffle and live music.
The Redskins Hoggette mascots also will be on hand. Admission is $5 per car.

Cadillac-LaSalle show at Greenbelt dealer
The Potomac Region Cadillac LaSalle Club will hold its annual fall show Oct. 24 at Capitol Cadillac in Greenbelt.
In addition to the judging, there will be an automobilia auction.
Car registration will last from 9 a.m. to noon.
Spectators are welcome from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The dealership is located at 6500 Capitol Drive, Greenbelt.

PT Cruiser event set for Oct. 21-24
The PT Cruisers Owners Club is hosting “Return to the Beach V” in Myrtle Beach, S.C., Oct. 21-24 to benefit the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Currently at least 181 PT Cruisers are registered for the show, which will feature judging in 22 classes.
Registration costs $20, rising to $25 after Oct. 17.
Events include an “early bird” dinner Thursday night, and a Friday-night cookout at the host hotel, the Red Roof Inn (843/626-4444).
Saturday evening there will be an awards banquet.

PG charity bike ride set for Nov. 6
The second annual Bikers With Heart Inc. “Christmas for St. Ann’s Kids” charity ride is scheduled Nov. 6.
Registration will be at Harley-Davidson of Washington, 9407 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, from 10 a.m. to noon. A donation of $15 per person or a gift certificate is requested. Departure will be at 12:30 p.m. for the 37-mile ride to deliver items to St. Ann’s Infant and Maternity Home in Hyattsville.
Ride participants are asked to not donate stuffed animals or used clothing.

PG schools program seeks donated cars
The Foundation of Automotive and Construction Technology for Students (FACTS) in Prince George’s County is looking for automobile donations. The program is part of the county public schools system.
Donated vehicles will be used by high school students for training.
Some of the cars might be repaired for sale by the Student Auto Group enterprise.
Donations are tax deductible and a letter of donation will be issued for tax purposes. But FACTS asks that donated autos be operational because the program’s towing capability is limited.

Cars can help fight cerebral palsy
United Cerebral Palsy of Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties Inc. urges people to donate a vehicle for a tax credit.
UCP will respond immediately to donors who call 301/459-0566, ext. 16.
UCP handles all details including paperwork, towing and selling the vehicle at auction.
