Oct. 30-31: Historian James W. Lowry, known as “Dr. Lowry, embalming surgeon,” discusses the practice of mortuary science and the art of embalming during the war. Oct. 30 through Dec. 23: The National Museum of Civil War Medicine, 48 E. Patrick St., Frederick, presents an art show featuring the works of Jeff Fioravanti, whose works depict historical landscapes, including Gettysburg, Antietam and Manassas.
