Princess Marina of Greece was the guest of honor at a reception hosted by Ann and Bill Nitze at their Georgetown home Thursday night.
Princess Marina (at left in photo with Mrs. Nitze) studied at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and helped design costumes for Maria Callas’ triumphal return in “Norma” before establishing her own career as a painter and sculptor in Greece, Paris and New York.
Known professionally by her maiden name, Marina Karella, she has shown her work in more than 30 solo exhibitions throughout the world and has designed sets for film and stage. Her husband, Prince Michael of Greece and Denmark, is a noted historian and the cousin of King Constantine II of Greece and Britain’s Prince Philip.
