Last night at Comcast Center:
NUMBER OF NOTE
22 Points scored in the second half by Maryland, matching the Terrapins’ lowest output in a half this season. Maryland scored 22 points in the first half of a 76-52 loss at Duke on Jan. 11.
PLAY OF THE GAME
North Carolina couldn’t run much early, but it produced a highlight-reel dunk in the second half. Point guard Bobby Frasor passed in transition to forward Reyshawn Terry on the left wing. Terry took two steps before going airborne and delivering a right-handed jam to give the Tar Heels a 44-42 lead.
QUOTABLE
“I was disgusted with the way we competed tonight.”
— Maryland coach Gary Williams, who made a similar comment in his postgame remarks broadcast throughout the arena. “I said that on the radio after the game, so I guess I couldn’t say I didn’t say it,” Williams added.
