Yesterday, Germany formally brought terrorism-financing charges against an Iraqi suspected of funnelling money to the terrorist group Ansar al-Islam.
The suspect, identified only as Ferhad Kanabi A., is accused of collecting and transferring money to Ansar al-Islam seven times since March 2004, Bloomberg reported yesterday. He also allegedly helped another suspect in an attempt to assassinate former Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi. He has been in German custody since June.
