OSAKA CONNECTION

Traveling to Osaka, Japan, in spring won’t break the bank account if travelers can get one of United Airlines’ $199 (one-way) sale fares from Washington Dulles International Airport. Travel is aboard United’s Boeing 777 aircraft, nonstop connecting service from Chicago. Mileage Plus members can also earn up to 15,000 bonus miles if they travel to Osaka before Jan. 31. Travel is valid through March 31 but must be purchased by Jan. 24. The $199 fare is one-way based on round-trip travel and taxes are not included. Visit www.united.com.

STOCKHOLM SUMMER

Fly to Scandinavia in summer for $489 each way. Scandinavian Airlines is offering an early bird sale on peak summer flights from Washington Dulles to most destinations in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland. With the U.S. dollar gaining strength against the euro, travel is expected to be high this summer and few fare sales are predicted, so this may be a good opportunity to lock in a summer or fall vacation. Travel is aboard SAS’ new Airbus A330, which offers onboard Internet access throughout your trans-Atlantic flight. Discounted upgrades to economy-extra and business class are also available. Travel anytime May 29 through Oct. 31. Book by Feb. 28. See www.scandinavian.net.

ALL ABOARD

Speed through France without standing around at the airport with Rail Europe’s rail spring sale. Travelers can visit popular cities such as Lyon, Bordeaux and Nice or journey to coastal towns such as Beziers or Arcachon all for $25 each way. Travel is aboard the high-speed TGV trains. Book by Jan. 30. Travel is valid through April 30. See www.raileurope.com.
