Monroe exhibit a fake?
A lawsuit claims that the late Marilyn Monroe had no connection to many of the items in an exhibit that claims to showcase her possessions.
The exhibit aboard the Queen Mary, which is moored in Long Beach, Calif., features a number of items, including hair rollers, suitcases, a lipstick holder and a shiny red dress, that the iconic sex symbol supposedly owned. Thousands of people have paid $22.95 each to see the exhibit since it opened in November, Associated Press reports.
However, the lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court claims that Miss Monroe — who would have celebrated her 80th birthday today — had nothing to do with many of the items and that some were made after she died from an overdose of sleeping pills in August 1962.
A spokeswoman for the Queen Mary and the exhibit declined to comment Tuesday to the Los Angeles Times, and the newspaper said it was unable to reach the items’ owner, Chicago collector Robert W. Otto. He has insisted previously that the items are authentic. The exhibit opened on the ship after the Hollywood Museum canceled a scheduled show over questions about the authenticity of some of the memorabilia.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of two people who attended the exhibit — Ernest Cunningham, author of “The Ultimate Marilyn,” and Emily Sadjady. It asks that the Queen Mary and exhibit organizers be forced to refund admission fees and also seeks unspecified punitive damages.
New Brady lady
Here’s the story of a lovely lady who wound up marrying Peter Brady.
After dropping oodles of hints upon entering couplehood in 2004, model Adrianne Curry finally got Christopher Knight to pop the question — and People reported Tuesday that the two got hitched Monday night.
According to E! Online, this is Miss Curry’s first marriage and Mr. Knight’s third.
Miss Curry, the 23-year-old winner of the first season of “America’s Next Top Model,” met the 48-year-old ex-child-star while they were performing on “The Surreal Life,” VH1’s answer to the universal question, “Where are they now?”
After they left their “Surreal” confines, the duo’s unlikely courtship became fodder for another VH1 unscripted series, “My Fair Brady.” Mr. Knight popped the question in November during the first season finale.
The “My Fair Brady Wedding Special” is scheduled to air July 23.
The couple said their “I do’s” in front of 250 guests, including Mr. Knight’s fellow “Brady Bunch” alums Barry “Greg” Williams, Susan “Cindy” Olsen and Mike “Bobby” Lookinland, at Christ Episcopal Church in Miss Curry’s hometown of Joliet, Ill. The bride carried a bouquet of black roses down the aisle and wore a cream-colored gown designed by Alvina Valenta.
Kudos for Prince
