BY THE NUMBERS
23-1 Run by Maryland in the first half. The Terrapins had little trouble dispatching Florida A&M, leading 30-7 less than 12 minutes into the game.
PLAYER OF THE GAME
Maryland guard Mike Jones continued his torrid start, scoring a game-high 16 points on 5-for-9 shooting. The senior is averaging 16 points and shooting .559 (19-for-34) after three games.
BURNEY’S BACK
As expected, freshman swingman Landon Milbourne sat out with a sprained left ankle, but freshman forward Jerome Burney was in uniform for the first time.
Coach Gary Williams said Burney, who fractured his foot about two weeks before Midnight Madness, is expected to return to practice tomorrow after participating in individual drills the last few weeks. He received clearance from doctors just before the game after undergoing X-rays late last week and enjoyed his first taste of being on the floor with his teammates.
“It was just exciting to be able to participate in the layup lines,” Burney said.
