Caps report

Last night at Verizon Center:

SEEN AND HEARD

There was plenty of catching up to be done before and after the game for the Sharks' coaching staff. San Jose coach Ron Wilson held the same position for the Capitals from 1997 to 2002, leading them to the organization's lone Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1998. Assistant coach Tim Hunter worked under Wilson during his entire tenure in Washington. The team's other assistant coach, Rob Zettler, played for Wilson and Hunter with the Caps for three seasons. Should the current NHL scheduling model continue, the Sharks won't return to Washington until the 2009-10 season.

BY THE NUMBERS

100 NHL games played by Caps defenseman Milan Jurcina — nine since being acquired from the Boston Bruins. Jurcina was averaging 10:42 of ice time with the Bruins, but he has logged at least 20 minutes in each of his first eight games with the Caps.
