Auden in focus

The life of poet W.H. Auden, who would have celebrated his 100th birthday Feb. 21, will be celebratedtonight at the Folger Shakespeare Library (201 East Capital St. SE) from 6:30 to 8:30. Admirers can join the National Endowment for the Arts, the Folger Shakespeare Library, Poetry Daily Magazine and the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities Center for the Book, as well as an esteemed group of poets and critics, in toasting one of the 20th century’s most important writers. The free event is fully booked, but unclaimed seats will be released on a first-come, first-served basis at 6:15 p.m. Call 202/544-7077 or log onto www.folger.edu.
