BY THE NUMBERS

3,800 Miles the Caps traveled during their four-game, nine-day road trip. They spent about 10 hours on a plane during the District to Tampa, Fla., to Miami to Ottawa to Raleigh, N.C., adventure.

PROSPECT WATCH

Patrick McNeill, the Caps fourth-round pick in the 2005 draft, has been selected to play in the Ontario Hockey League All-Star Game on Jan. 31. McNeill, a 6-foot-1, 198-pound defenseman, has 16 goals and 24 assists in 39 games for Saginaw.

OVECHKIN WATCH

With an empty-net goal in the final minute, Alex Ovechkin extended his scoring streak to eight games, which ties his longest run of the season.
