Terps report

Last night at Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg, Va.

SEEN AND HEARD

Virginia Tech wisely turned its arena into an open seating area for students, who probably had little better to do on an icy Sunday night less than a week after classes started. The students, usually confined to the area behind the baseline near the visitors’ bench, instead were given carte blanche to take the seats of the many no-shows uninterested in navigating the treacherous roads.

BY THE NUMBERS

5-17 Record in true road games for Maryland over the last three seasons. The Terrapins fell to 1-3 on the road — including 0-3 in the conference — with the loss.

0 Minutes played in Maryland’s first four ACC games for freshman Landon Milbourne. The swingman was pressed into action when fellow freshman Greivis Vasquez picked up his third foul with 6:50 left in the first half and departed more than four minutes later with the Terps down three points — the same deficit as when he entered.
