Anne Arundel County police are investigating a crash in Dunkirk in which a man was thrown from his vehicle and was killed.

The accident occurred Monday afternoon while the man was driving a sport utility vehicle on Chesapeake Beach Road West. Police said the driver crossed the center line near Sansbury Road and crashed head-on with a tow truck.

The SUV was knocked backward about 85 feet after the collision. The man was ejected and landed in the road near his vehicle after it came to a stop.

Police have withheld the man’s identity. The tow-truck driver was taken to Prince George’s County Hospital’s trauma center and released.
