Investigators think he is the person who fired shots at the ice cream truck, striking Briona Jasmine Porter in the back. She was rushed to Children’s Hospital in the District, where she died.

The sheriff’s office said Briona was with her mother and her aunt in the ice cream truck about 11:30 p.m. when a man approached with a gun and announced the robbery.

Briona’s mother, Charlene Woodland, said she told the man they were just testing the truck and had no cash. When she started to drive away, the man fired several shots into the truck.

5 men accused of smuggling cash

Five Guatemalan men have been indicted on charges of smuggling cash and trying to launder drug money.

Walter Yovani Velasquez-Solis, Hugo Rene Aldana-Portilla, Rony Raul Rosas-Velasquez, Virgilio Arnoldo Galvez-Del Cid and Jorge Alejandro Anderson were indicted by a federal grand jury. They were arrested Friday at Washington Dulles Internation-al Airport after arriving on a flight from Guatemala.

Authorities said the men took nearly $800,000 in cash out of the country hidden in luggage or merchandise.

Mr. Velasquez-Solis is also charged with operating an unlicensed money-remitting business in Hyattsville and failing to file currency-transaction reports on more than $600,000 that authorities thought were drug proceeds.
