My name is Gregory Thomas Ogorek Jr. I am a student at Mayo Elementary School. I live in Mayo, Md., and I am 9 years old. My report is about DK’s First Dinosaur Encyclopedia. It was published by DK (Dorling Kindersley) Publishing, and it has photography by Louie Psihoyos.
I like this book because I love to learn about dinosaurs. This book has many facts, fossils, how the dinosaurs became extinct and many of the habitats where the dinosaurs lived.
My favorite dinosaur is the euoplocephalus because this dinosaur is like a tank. Its rock-hard body and protective plates make it hard to take down. This dinosaur’s tail is like a giant club. I would never mess around with it. Would you?
My second-favorite is a 42-foot-long monster named Sue that is the largest known and most complete Tyrannosaurus rex. Sue was found in South Dakota in 1990, bought by the Field Museum in Chicago in 1997 for $8.36 million and put on display there in 2000. The T-rex’s eye is as big as an adult’s clenched fist. Scientists don’t know for sure if the T-rex was a hunter or scavenger. T-rex had giant curved teeth. Each tooth was as long as an adult’s hand.
My third-favorite is the spinosaurus.
This creature may have been any color. It was taller than the T-rex and lived earlier. The spike on its back was to cool itself down, just as an elephant does with its ears. The spinosaurus is related to a dinosaur called the Irritator. It got its name from an irritating episode with its fossilized remains.
My last favorite is the allosaurus. This little monster may have been small, but it sure was mighty. This dinosaur was a meat eater. With its great sense of smell and its awesome hearing, it had a very easy time finding its victims. It may have hidden in bushes and jumped on prey walking by. This dinosaur had hugh claws to help it catch its prey.
Would you like to read this book? ‘Cause I give it a four-star rating.
