Players in full gear, players hitting each other… the real fun starts
MOTHER NATURE [SIDEWAYS]
The cooler temps were nice, but the practice-ending storm not so much
PRESNAP DISCIPLINE [DOWN]
Back-to-back false starts by the offense at one point during 11-on-11 action
FAKE POSITIONS [DOWN]
Maybe he played some with Miami, but Jason Taylor is a linebacker in number only
SEEN AND HEARD AT REDSKIN PARK
At one point during the morning session, cornerback Carlos Rogers and wide receiver Santana Moss broke off from the group and worked one-on-one on the far field. Rogers tore ligaments in his right knee against the Patriots last season. While he is ahead of schedule in his recovery, one hurdle for him to still overcome is dealing with the shiftiness of a cutting receiver. Working out with Moss, even at less than full speed, is a good test for Rogers.
“You try to develop the young kids, but Thursday night under the lights, you may have to be looking for those young kids: ‘Get out of the locker!’”
— Redskins offensive line coach Joe Bugel
LONG SHOT OF THE DAY
TE Jason Goode, 6-3, 238, Maryland
Goode is an undrafted free agent who had a solid career with the Terps. He caught 17 passes as a tight end/H-back last season, including three touchdowns, which tied for the team lead. The Redskins likely will keep three tight ends on the active roster, but it’s tough to imagine room for anyone other than Chris Cooley, Todd Yoder or second-round pick Fred Davis.
