A topic over the last two days in discussions with Maryland football coach Ralph Friedgen has been the state of the Virginia Tech quarterbacks.
Based on about 20 minutes of action, he has concluded Cory Holt is sort of a combination of Tyrod Taylor and Sean Glennon - or at least a mix of their traits.
Of course, it’s tough to say for certain, since Holt played quarterback for the first time all season on Saturday. And Turtle Sports Report’s Seth Hoffman asked if that was the only tape the Terps had of the fifth-year senior.
“Yeah,” Friedgen said. “I don’t think he’s played in any other games.”
This was the time for a case of know-it-allism to come into play. So I mentioned he’d last played QB more than a year ago against Duke.
“I might pull that one out,” Friedgen said. “What other games did he play? Do my research for me so I don’t have to go through all those films. …
“You are a Maryland grad aren’t you?” the big fella said. “Once a Terp, always a Terp.”
I wouldn’t go that far.

TWT FIVE “ MOST LIKELY TO WIN DISTRICT’S NEXT PRO TITLE
1. Capitals - With 2007-08 league MVP Alex Ovechkin and a strong supporting cast, the Caps have enough firepower to build on last year’s Southeast Division title. Their big question is between the pipes.
2. Redskins - Take away a desperation heave in the final minute of the Rams game in Week 6 and the Redskins would be 7-1 and in first place in the NFC East.
