OPINION:
Sarah Palin’s successful public debut has Hollywood liberals frothing at the mouth. Sandra Bernhard, Pink, Matt Damon and Pamela Anderson have all delivered insults in what appears to be a frenzy. These celebrities seem to have no idea what made them famous. They are entertainers, and their job is to give people relief from their normal lives. If the American people wanted to hear about Hollywood’s political views, then these celebrities would have jobs as political analysts at news networks.
Shortly after the Republican convention, Ms. Anderson said that Mrs. Palin can “suck it.” That’s pretty crass language from someone who didn’t hurl insults for public consumption at Hillary Clinton during her run for president. Pink recently made a statement about Mrs. Palin saying, “This woman hates women.” Is that a fact? Both Ms. Anderson and Pink seem to be motivated by a dislike for Mrs. Palin’s support for hunting and well, eating meat. Ms. Anderson is a spokeswoman for PETA, so one could easily understand her motivation for potshots at a mooseburger-eating politician. Pink merely has a new album to promote.
Mr. Damon questioned Mrs. Palin’s intelligence. “I need to know if she really thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago, that’s important … I want to know that. I really do. Because she’s going to have the nuclear codes. I want to know if she thinks dinosaurs were here 4,000 years ago.” Hearty har-har.
Miss Bernhard has reached a new, new low by recently saying in one of her stand-up routines that she hopes Mrs. Palin would be “gang raped” by black men while in New York. Miss Bernhard’s insults came from the viewpoint that Mrs. Palin is a traitor to other women because she is a social conservative. Nevermind that Miss Bernhard’s comments were blatantly racist and profane - and unfit for a family friendly publication.
Perhaps they all just want to be like Madonna, but even Madonna has gotten “old.” (At least the “Saturday Night Live” skits reflect what Hollywood does best: entertain.) The aforementioned celebrities’ statements are not really justified by anything except the liberal bias and attitude of entitlement that run amok in out-of-touch Hollywood.
