ST. PAUL, Minn. - The 18-year-old boyfriend of Republican vice presidential pick Sarah Palin’s pregnant teenage daughter is joining the Palin family at the GOP convention here.

Washington Times reporter Joe Curl says the teen met presidential nominee Sen. John McCain today at a Twin Cities airport.

Mrs. Palin’s 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, also was there — wearing an engagement ring.

McCain spokesman Ben Porritt confirmed that Levi Johnston was coming because he was invited by the family.

Not surprisingly, Mr. Poritt also said the teen will be off limits to the press.

“One of the last civil aspects that remains in politics is to stay away from the candidates’ children,” Mr. Porritt said.
