SEEN AND HEARD AT SHEA STADIUM

NEW YORK - Most people look at Shea Stadium and see a ballpark long past due for the wrecking ball after this season. Manny Acta doesn´t see it that way. The Nationals manager took his typically sunny view of the Mets´ ballpark, which will be replaced next year by adjacent Citi Field. He cited his fond memories of the Mets´ 2006 National League Championship Series run while he was third-base coach.

“2006 still, up until I advance farther, is still my best year in baseball,” Acta said. “Being in the playoff atmosphere, that´s the place to be - packed stadium, chanting, you feel the energy. That was just a great experience.”
