PARK CITY, UTAH (AP) - Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety will be in a brace for two weeks but is not expected to need surgery after injuring his knee.
Ligety damaged ligaments in his right knee at the U.S. Alpine Championships last weekend. He was hurt when he fell during downhill practice in Alaska. He traveled to Utah to be examined and have an MRI exam.
Ligety says he is going to rest and recuperate in Park City before preparing for next February's Vancouver Olympics.
Ligety won the combined event at the 2006 Turin Games and took home a bronze in the giant slalom at this year's world championships.
