TUESDAY’S HIGHLIGHTS

• The Redskins’ safeties continue to get to the ball. During the morning practice, Kareem Moore, Chris Horton and LaRon Landry all had interceptions.

• Coach Jim Zorn wouldn’t reveal his quarterback rotation against Baltimore once Campbell’s cameo appearance is over. But he did say Antwaan Randle El, Marques Hagans, Dominique Dorsey and Keith Eloi will handle punt returns. Don’t expect to see Santana Moss or DeAngelo Hall on punt returns in the preseason.

• With Wednesday serving as a no-pads walkthrough, the Redskins’ practice count heading into the preseason opener is 21 workouts - 10 in shorts and shells, six in full pads, four special teams and one scrimmage.

FOUR DOWNS

WITH QB TODD COLLINS

1. On entering the second year in Jim Zorn’s passing game: “This year is a lot different. My arm feels a lot better it did last year, when I had a sore shoulder, and it’s the second time around, and I’ve had an offseason to get some stuff on film and then watch what happened during the season. Everybody feels more comfortable with it.”

2. On his approach to preseason games as a 15-year veteran: “Just try to go out there and have fun. It’s fun to actually play against somebody else and get into a game situation. The variables change with personnel, so it can be unconventional, but it’s an opportunity to have some fun. Once you get hit a couple of times, you tend to get into the swing of it pretty quick.”

3. On how long he wanted to play in the NFL: “Jim Kelly asked when I was a rookie how long I wanted to play. I said, ’Ten years would be good.’ When I hit 10, I felt pretty good and decided to keep going. Now it’s almost all of a sudden that I’m at 15. I remember as a young player thinking, ’I can’t imagine making it five years because of the demands on the position.’ ”

4. On connection to Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron: “Cam recruited me to Michigan, and I’ve known him since I was 18. I think he was 28 and the quarterbacks coach, and he made a big impression on me and sold me going to Michigan. He’s a great offensive mind. You could tell he was a very dynamic coach at the time. It was hard not to notice what he was doing.”

NUMBER OF THE DAY

78 Redskins players taking part in individual drills Tuesday morning, the most since July 31.
