TORONTO FC 2, D.C. UNITED 0: Dwayne De Rosario scored for the fourth straight game to lift Toronto FC to a home victory against D.C. United on Saturday.
Toronto (8-7-6) jumped two points ahead of United (6-5-10) for third in the Eastern Conference.
United, who sat atop the East last month, fell to 1-5-6 on the road. They are unbeaten at RFK Stadium.
De Rosario broke a scoreless tie in the 30th minute, heading home a pass from Sam Cronin for his team-leading ninth goal of the season.
Toronto failed to win its previous three matches (0-1-2) even though Rosario scored in each game.
O’Brian White scored his first MLS goal to double the lead in the 66th minute. The fourth pick in this year’s draft took a one-touch pass from Nana Attakora just outside the 6-yard box and smashed a rising shot past United goalkeeper Josh Wicks.
United nearly got one back in stoppage time when a one-time volley by Santino Quaranta was cleared off the line by Amado Guevara. The shot by Quaranta was just the fourth for United.
CREW 2, FC DALLAS 0: Chad Marshall and Eddie Gaven scored to help host Columbus win its fifth straight game.
Marshall scored off a corner kick in the 10th minute. He outjumped Atiba Harris at the edge of the 6-yard box to take a feed from Robbie Rogers and put a header past goalkeeper Dario Sala. Gaven entered in the 75th minute and scored unassisted 12 minutes later with a shot from 17 yards.
CHIVAS USA 2, RED BULLS 0: Maykel Galindo scored off a feed from Chukwudi Chijindu in the 15th minute, and Eduardo Lillingston added a goal late in added time in Chivas USA’s 2-0 victory over reeling New York in East Rutherford, N.J.
DYNAMO 0, REAL SALT LAKE 0: Pat Onstad made six saves for visiting Houston in a tie with Real Salt Lake in Sandy, Utah.
Onstad recorded his MLS-leading ninth shutout of the season for the Dynamo, making his biggest save in the 45th minute when he stopped Robbie Findley’s shot just in front of the goal.
