Texas Tech’s Brad Reese wound up with teammate Mike Davis on his back after beating Washington.TEXAS TECH 99, No. 12 WASHINGTON 92 (OT): John Roberson scored a season-high 25 points, and the Red Raiders (8-0) overcame an official review at the end of regulation that took away a 3-pointer for a victory over the Huskies (5-1) on Thursday night in Lubbock, Texas, in a matchup of unbeaten teams.
Roberson, who finished 13-for-13 at the free throw line, stole the ball and made a layup with 44 seconds left to seal the win for Texas Tech, which is 8-0 for the first time since 1929.
Quincy Pondexter scored a career-high 31 points for Washington.
Washington’s Elston Turner missed two free throws with 4.8 seconds left in regulation and the score tied at 80-80.
Mike Singletary of Texas Tech brought the ball up and appeared to have won the game on a running 3-pointer as time expired, but officials determined he did not get the shot off before the buzzer.
The crowd swarmed the court, thinking the game was over. The fans and the debris they left behind had to be cleared from the court before overtime could begin.
Texas Tech, which had five players in double figures, outscored the Huskies 19-12 in overtime.
No. 2 TEXAS 69, USC 50: Damion James scored 19 points and the Longhorns (6-0) defended their highest ranking in school history with a victory over the Trojans (2-3) in Austin.
Dexter Pittman scored 13 points for Texas and his seven blocks were one short of the school record.
Nikola Vucevic scored 18 points for USC, but fouled out with five minutes to play.
