GREEN & GLOVER: Rock royalty to visit

The lady spies have an exclusive scoop that Mr. Rocket Man, Sir Elton John, will be in town May 9 for the Land Rover America’s Polo Cup, the world’s premier polo match, featuring the United States vs. Australia.

The British pop legend is the guest of Daum, an international art and sculpture design firm.

Mr. John will not be performing but will be watching Will.i.am from the Black Eyed Peas get his jam on as well as Mya, who, we hear, will do a special performance of “Lady Marmalade,” the sexy 1974 disco classic made famous by Labelle.

D.C.: You’re hired!

G2 got out of our Beltway comfort zone and Thelma and Louised it out to Sterling, Va., for an encounter with not one, but two members of America’s self-styled royal family — the Trumps.

Donald Trump and his twentysomething son Eric held a press conference to announce the acquisition of the Lowes Island Club, now known as Trump National Golf Club, Washington, DC.

“I paid cash for it. It’s easier that way,” Mr. Trump quipped.

“The Congressional Club can’t compete with us. Our property and proximity to the Potomac is spectacular,” he boasted, referring to the club’s 600 acres on the river.

“[Congressional does] have the legacy of 100 years of playing golf, though,” he conceded.

“D.C. is very hot right now,” said Mr. T, stealing a line from his friend Paris Hilton. “It controls the banks, the government and the car companies.”

Mr. Trump said that in addition to correcting the course’s cart paths, he’ll be adding more tennis courts and building a new ballroom and restaurant. A detail guy, he pointed to the ceiling of the clubhouse, where the press conference was held, and noted, “We need a chandelier up there.”

He’ll have plenty of help with this project, thanks to nepotism. The younger Mr. Trump has his father’s ambition and eye for a good deal. The recent Georgetown grad, executive vice president of development and acquisitions of the Trump Organization, spotted the property and made the pitch to his pop.

The 26-year-old Mr. Trump, who said he has been golfing since the age of 5 or 6, says you can expect to see him around, as he’ll take the new club under his wing and supervise the changes.
