Before launching into “Dear Mr. President,” a song critical of the last White House occupant, Pink exclaimed, “Let’s get political for a second. Since we’re near D.C., I have to give a shout-out to Michelle Obama, who has announced that she is officially fur-free. I love an animal-lovin’ first lady!”
Pink is a spokeswoman for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.
All aboard!
Disney’s “A Christmas Carol” train rolled into Union Station on Tuesday, bringing Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood along for the ride. He cut the ribbon of the train, which is traveling to 40 cities to promote the upcoming Jim Carrey 3-D flick “A Christmas Carol,” which opens in November.
The free train tour, which rolls out of town Wednesday, enables visitors to see sneak-peek footage of the film and interact with characters from the famous Charles Dickens novel.
Of course, Mr. LaHood wasn’t there just to have fun and be a big kid. He also had a special message from the office. Thanks to the U.S. Department of Transportation, the tour will feature a child passenger safety booth to remind parents to keep their wee ones in safe car seats.
Kathy hearts Al
Not long ago, we reported on how comedian Kathy Griffin shamelessly flirted with Levi Johnson, ex-boyfriend of Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol.
Well, look out, because Miss G apparently has a new crush, and it’s on none other than civil rights activist the Rev. Al Sharpton.
On Monday’s edition of “The Wendy Williams Show,” the saucy Miss Griffin recounted the time she was booted out of the famed Apollo Theater in New York and the gallant Mr. Sharpton came to her rescue.
” I was ushered out. I did an episode of the ‘D-List’ where I wanted to seriously tackle race and stand-up comedy,” she explained about her Bravo series of the same name.
“I finally go to the Apollo and find out what makes black people laugh, and what I didn’t know about the Apollo is that half the audience on Amateur Night is Japanese tourists waiting for the dance contest. It was a disaster. And then I get Al Sharpton to introduce me, the ultimate introduction, and, you know, I tried to get him into bed, and he’s married. Just behind-the-scenes fun for you. But I thought that could be a good couple. Me and Sharpton.”
