SPRINGFIELD, Va. | A northern Virginia woman has been charged with driving while intoxicated after hitting a Fairfax County police officer’s car.

Police say 49-year-old Cristina Zamorano of Burke pulled out of Parliament Drive into the path of the officer traveling northbound on Rolling Road Friday night. The 40-year-old officer and his K-9 were on their way to a burglary call and the cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens were on at the time of the crash.

Zamorano and the officer suffered serious, but not life-threatening injuries. The K-9 did not have serious injuries.
