David Waddington’s piece (“Revolt brews in Iran,” Opinion, Jan. 7) puts forward the Iranian people’s opinion that we do not want a war in Iran, nor do we want the West to go on appeasing the mullahs. Rather, we would like democratic change by the Iranian people and their resistance movement.

Any further links between the United States and the Iranian regime is a slap in the face to all Iranians who strive for freedom and risk their lives to protest against the regime and bring about change in Iran. The West, and particularly President Obama, must side with the people of Iran and send a clear message to the Iranian regime that the time has come to step down.
